Some quick notes about this contest:

Brewster, coached by Lisa Delzio, is 9-4 with losses coming to JJEF, Ketcham, Arlington and Ursuline. The Bears topped an extremely strong Carmel squad 1-0 earlier this year.

Junior Alycia Feeney has handled the pitching duties for Brewster and his been excellent, picking up the form that she showed last season in leading Brewster to the Class A final.

“We graduated five senior starters last season and with seven new players on varsity, we have had problems defensively which has cost us several games and made several of our wins closer than what they should have been.  It’s growing pains that all teams with new players go through, and we seem to be working hard each week to get better.  If we can tighten up defensively, we can finish very strong and be better prepared for the sectionals.”  – Lisa Delzio

John Jay started 4-0 but is now 8-7, losing to Brewster yesterdat 12-1.

“Theresa Swertfager has been doing well hitting and has also started in the circle and she will finish out the season as our starting pitcher. Emily Downs and Kim Dohlan have set the table early batting one and two in the line up and have helped us win some ball games. We start four freshmen and three sophomores so we have had some growing pains but we have also shown some nice strides. The Freshmen are Downs , Kayla Fisher ( Catcher ) , Ashley Berton ( 1st base ) and Megan Hendrich ( outfield , second basemen ). Swertfager , Dohlan , and Shane Gorman are the tenth graders and have done a great job. Danielle Autieri ( Junior ) plays third and has hit the ball hard.” – coach Angelo Formisano
